About Me

My name is Jack Heywood, and photography became the first language I found that could truly express the way I see the world.

For a long time, I felt there were things I experienced and felt that words alone could never hold. Photography gave me a way to capture those moments, not just the places in front of me, but the emotions hidden within them. It allowed me to create a window into my perspective, to share a world that exists somewhere between reality and memory.

I have always been drawn to the darker side of nature. The forests that feel endless, the paths that disappear into the unknown, the landscapes swallowed by fog and silence. There is something honest about these places. They carry a sense of solitude, mystery and remembrance, feelings that are often difficult to explain, but impossible to ignore.

My photographs are not simply images of landscapes. They are stories. They are pieces of feeling, moments of reflection, and fragments of a world shaped by the emotions we carry with us. Through black and white photography, I try to strip away the distractions and leave behind something more raw, a feeling, a memory, a thought that lingers.

The poems I write alongside my photographs are my confessions. They are the voices behind the images, the thoughts that exist in the silence between the trees. They explore loss, longing, isolation and the parts of ourselves that we often keep hidden.

I create these photographs as a place to disappear into. A place where you can leave behind the noise of the world for a moment and wander through something quieter. Somewhere to reflect, to remember, and to feel.

If my work means anything, I hope it is that even within darkness, there is something worth finding.
